Swiss Passengers aboard Corinthian

bound for New York from Le Havre
arrived November 11?, 1853.
The ship Corinthian was a three-masted, square-rigged sailing ship, 1098 tons, built at Cape Elizabeth, Maine, and launched in 1851 by Joseph W. Dyer. When it arrived in New York in 1853, it first anchored at the quarantine ground at Tompkinsville, near the northeast part of Staten Island. After the sick passengers were removed, the ship proceeded to Manhattan. There is no record that the Corinthian was quarantined, despite her heavy losses (41) during the voyage due to cholera and storms.
[Nota Bene: The following list of passengers are grouped according to how they appear in the original list. It indicates with fair accuracy with whom an individual was associating while on the ship; e.g., Aut Rebsamer and N. Schelling were traveling together, but Louise Bectschenger was traveling alone.
